RADAR TEGAL - SMP Negeri 1 Slawi shows its concern for the waste problem in Tegal Regency. This step was carried out by making beautiful costumes from recycled plastic waste.

By recycling plastic waste, a carnival costume was made in groups by SMPN 1 Slawi students. For about 2 weeks, until it becomes a set of unique and interesting costumes.
"The materials used include used plastic bags, used drinking bottles, used newspapers, used styrofoam, leftover plastic pipes, and others. Thanks to directions from the homeroom teacher and the P5 supervisor (Project to Strengthen Pancasila Student Profiles), an eco-friendly carnival costume was created," said the Principal of SMPN 1, Slawi Mujiarti MPd, Thursday, October 24, 2023.
This shows the concern of SMP Negeri 1 Slawi residents for the environment. The plastic waste recycling program supports waste reduction, especially waste that is difficult to decompose.

In line with this, through the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) with the theme "Sustainable Lifestyle," Slawi 1 Public Middle School students are encouraged to have awareness of recycling plastic waste. It aims to make plastic waste into crafts that have aesthetic and economic value after being reprocessed.
The head of SMP Negeri 1, Slawi Mujiarti MPd, stated that the harvest of P5's work this time is a medium for students' concern about waste and plastic waste recycling activities.
"Don't let our negligence today have a negative impact on the environment for 10 to 20 years to come. The habit of disposing of organic and non-organic waste without segregating it will greatly affect environmental pollution. Let's look at it from the other side; organic waste can be processed into ecoenzymes, and we can turn non-organic waste into handicrafts that have economic value again," he said.
Separately, P5 coordinator for class VIII, Ulta Luthviana SPd, added that plastic waste recycling activities and awareness of the dangers of plastic waste will help students become more critical in the future. Especially on matters relating to this.

"They must be able to become agents of change in their respective environments so that 3R awareness can be practiced in the environment around where they live and further afield," he said.
According to him, this activity aims to get students directly involved in the 3R process (reduce, recycle, and reuse), or recycling plastic waste. So that you have experiences that can change your mindset and lifestyle.
It is intended that they pay more attention to nature and its surroundings. Especially in addressing the waste problem, which is still a frightening specter for Indonesian citizens.
Furthermore, the carnival costumes made from recycled plastic waste, totaling 35, will take part in the Tegal Regency carnival tomorrow, Saturday, with the theme SMPN 1 Slawi Goes to Asean Eco School. ***
